January 2008

REMIX, JKF and GIG NEWS

Kornelius Keyloid will be getting some remix treatment from me in the next couple of weeks. His home on French based label Eklektik Records are releasing some superb electronic hip hop tracks and I hope my rework will only add to the rising success of the label.

After the first sell-out success of my first single-handed 12" release DEMONS I have confirmation of a Second release on my own label The Jon Kennedy Federation with support from Groove Distribution in the USA.

Some exciting gigs this year already confirmed too. With Ireland, Austria, UK and a possibilty of a second Malaysian trip with my ardent band members in the makings.

Believe it or not I am writing a few Christmas tunes for 2008 right now too...........

MODART #13 and REMIX NEWS

MODART MAGAZINE NUMBER 13 is out on the shelves this month. I'd like to thank all labels and producers that sent over 12's, demo's and such. GIGS, REMIXES and MAGAZINE

After a few months of constant gigs I have a lil update for you.........
I'm back on track with editing the music pages for MODART MAGAZINE. All releases are most welcome from you all. Please CONTACT ME if you would like to make a submission.

I've been gigging for a few months solidly now and had some superb excursions so a huge thanks to all involved there !

I'm also currently in the middle of yet more remixes. Firstly for DJ Sept on Equinox Records from Berlin with a superb jazzy downtempo number "Morning Comes" and secondly a release on Aber Records in Vienna of the supreb artist Evirgen of the track "Sudden" which is a sublime electronic affair.........

MELT 2000 and TROJAN RECORDS mix

Another Remix completed and another TWO started.
I have just finished a version of Mantombi Matotiyani's track "Emva Kkhaya", which is, in basic terms, a jews harp-style track all the way......... leaving MASSES of space to play with. You can check out this exclusively African release next year on the label Nanny Tango and "MELT 2000"

Next year see's the highly respected TROJAN RECORDS 40th birthday. To celebrate this the label has asked a number of artist to do mixes, remixes and interpretations of some of the tracks they've released over the years. I'll be providing a mix alongside such greats as DJ Spooky, Gorrilas and Fat Boy Slim.

OCTOBER 2006

USELESS WOODEN TOYS on double vinyl

Great news this month as I am proud to announce that "Useless Wooden Toys" will be available on double LP / VINYL in March 2007.
It's set to be a USA release and only available on Import to the UK and the rest of Europe ....... I'll keep you posted !!!

SENSER Album and Joe Driscoll remix

I am in talks with legendary rock outfit Senser at present. With possibilities of not only a remix from me but for me to produce their forthcoming album. The band will be recording sometime in September and I have been asked to produce the new studio album.

I have also just completed a remix for Joe Driscoll's track "Origin Myth" on Buttercuts Records. The track having graced Joe's ears it's fair to say he is MORE THAN HAPPY with my work. Expect this release to hit the shops later this year......

REMIXING SOME MORE

In motion is my remix of French talent Watine's track "Not A Pretence" check her myspace page !

Remember that 80's rock sound ? Power ballad type stuff ! Now mix it with modern day electronica and you are nearly there with Huddersfield based Kava Kava on Chocolate Firegauard Records. Their fantastic track "Tic" has been lovingly worked into a Hip Hop-esque groove by me and we hope to get this single out by the end of the year !

CAPTAIN's LOG

Exciting news regarding the LIVE SHOW this month !
We have confirmation from our Malaysian friends that the Kuala Lumpa and Singapore gigs in July are on !

I'll be remixing a track from Traveller Records discography in the next few weeks too. Traveller put out wicked wicked reggae 45's.

I am branching out to produce for other artists this year a little too. First on the roster will be super-talented vocalist Kelly Waters. Have a listen to her and show some love......

We all know the cult film 'Withnail and I' right ? Well, there's been a remix project I have been involved with ongoing for the last 18 months and the people involved in this project are currently in talks to get the rights of the movie back from Hollywood. The future looks good for the soundtrack remix project to go ahead. Go check out the audio .......

REMIXING ALL OVER THE PLACE

Got a few bits of remix news folks............

Firstly, reggae king and man-of-the-hour Richie Phoe will be getting a track treated by me. He's the newest addition to Grand Central's digital label - GC3's roster and i'll be reshaping his "Sinful" track.

Secondly 33 Throwdown Records' artist Harmonic33, which features vocal talent from MCM , will be getting a bloody good seeing to !

Thirdly, my Russian comrade's Earl Grey Smokers will get a rejig from me in the next month or so.

Fourth is the fantastic indie rock outfit Kava Kava on Chocolate Fireguard Records with the track "Tic" and their super individual sound. I expect this to be a MASSIVE band to watch out for ! ! PROPER !

And finally a remix of a track for Jung Collective's - ALAN GUBBY and his lil label ................... CRIKEY !! ! ! !

Irish Festival

This month the brand new Irish Festival named 'Bud Rising West Festival' starts up the musical motor for a weekend.

I'll be donning my DJ disguise at this weekend of merrymaking along side such acts as (although not confirmed as yet) Groove Armada, David Holmes, The Zutons, Irish super DJ talent Arveene and The Disconauts. The festival looks to drown Galway and Limerick with an abundance of good music and DJ's ................

Irish Tour

I'll be popping back over to the motherland this month. After establishng some strong connections in Ireland, i've been asked to get back on the lush Irish shores to drop more lovely records.

Rumour has it i'll be in the motherland every couple of months henceforth. . d-_-b .

Parisian DJ Set

On the14th of his month i'll be making my presence known at "Le Batofar" in Paris. I'll be playing with the Red Alert crew from London and my label boss and team captain Mark Rae.

Brand New Club Night in Bristol "Rumour Control"

From November this year and every 2 months following, myself and Annon Lee from "Dutty Girl" fame will be resident DJ's at a night called "Rumour Control". Dedicated to hip hop, rock, funk, and drum and bass. It takes place at the smokey, brick-lined and very aptly named "Cosies" Wine Bar which is situated off Portland Square in St Pauls, Bristol !

Remix News

After a successful rework of Pete Brown and Piblokto's psychedelic rock joint "Can't Get Off The Planet" the monsterous record label that is EMI RECORDS have asked me back in the studio for a reworking of Barclay James Harvest's track "Good Love Child".

A release date is penciled in for 2006 as remixes are still coming in. Artists involved in this forthcoming project include Mogwai . Sonic Youth and the Super Furry Animals to name but a few.
